Officers reported they were notified by a individual who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then located many other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police say initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the event," they added.

City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

A senior official stated the attack rendered him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
